Notable Sketches:

Grenades

Name and Nickname:

Kevin Laumbach. No nickname (at least one that anyone has said to my face).

Favorite Sketch you have been a part of:

‘Grenades’ (thus far)

Favorite Sketch that Live has done:

I would have to say it’s a tie between ‘Don’t Look’ and ‘Homelesser’.

What is your favorite band or music act?

I have odd and eclectic music tastes, so I will say who my favorite LIVE musical guest has been:  Space Heaters. Great band and great guys!

What piece of art that changed your life and why:

I saw The Rocky Horror Picture Show when I was a sophomore in high school and it really opened my eyes. It showed me it was ok to be different, funny, theatrical, irreverent and to ‘don’t dream it, be it.’  It’s one of the main reasons why I decided to pursue my dream of performing.

Favorite Comedy:

I have a lot. I’ll just give the top 3 (in no particular order) :  Saturday Night LiveAbsolutely Fabulous and the play Noises Off. I also have a penchant for dark/twisted humor and black comedy.

Biggest guilty pleasure?

Goddamn gummy bears. I literally cannot stop eating them until I feel sick. And even then…

Interesting fact about yourself

I worked for 2 summers as a Berenstain Bear (Mama Bear, specifically) at Valleyfair when I was in college. I don’t know how interesting that is, but there ya go.

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go and why?

London. I’ve always been in love with the culture and history there. Plus all of the theater.  I really hope to make it there one day.

If you could have dinner with anyone alive or dead, who would it be and why?

I would have to say Carol Burnett. Her show was a real pioneer in sketch comedy, and still holds up pretty well today. Plus, she’s led such a fascinating life.

If you could have any career, what would it be and why?

I would love a career in the theater. I love to perform, but I also love making costumes and creating sound & set designs. I have a degree in theater, so it would be nice to be working in that field ;-)

You have an hour to yourself…what do you do with your time?

Probably read or watch something on my phone. I’m pretty boring.

Anything else you want to add?

I first joined LIVE from La Crosse in season 1, episode 3….well, kind of. My drag persona, Liza Hollywoodz was host of that episode. Since then, I’ve become attached to this motley crew like a barnacle. I’ve been in sketches here and there, helped with costumes (including a very sad, deflated pickle costume…hey, YOU try to make one and see how easy it is!!!) and just try to help with whatever, whenever I’m able to.

I love the friends I have made with this group…they are like a 2nd family to me. Sometimes we disagree, sometimes we argue and get loud, but we all care for and respect each other…just like family does. I look forward to many more years of fun & crazy times with these funny bastards , both on-stage and off!
